Before you go, let me show you the top 5 things you can do to become a better cellist.

“I am very happy to be your online student.”
Richard N. via Facebook

“Hi Olga, I am a beginning student on the cello and came across your YouTube channel recently and I have to say you are a great help to any cellist looking to develope their skills!”
Ryan O. via Facebook

“I had no background in music when I started with Olga two years ago. I had never even seen a cello!
I emailed Olga and asked if she could teach a 55 year old with no music knowledge. She said yes and my wonderful journey began. I’ve had many classes with Olga since and I simply cannot praise her enough.

She’s a professional cellist who has that special ability to teach. If you become a student of Olga’s she will always give you her complete attention, insist that you learn correctly, encourage you, correct you, make you laugh, and all this and more while leading you slowly but surely and at your own pace, towards becoming a competent cellist.

Her online virtual cello videos are a great resourse and if, like me, you choose to also take one to one classes on skype, you will certainly get value for your money.
It had always been a dream of mine to play an instrument, I was lucky enough to find a world-class cellist to teach me and I’m so happy with my progress and I love my cello.

It’s a dream come true !!”

“As an adult student starting my third year with Olga, I am totally “hooked”…not only by her excellent teaching style but by her approach. With virtual lessons by Skype, I can practice and be ready for my lesson at home ahead of time as well as have the back-up reinforcement of the online lesson videos. These short lessons are so helpful for remembering techniques, previewing a lesson ahead of time or reviewing the finer points of a lesson during my practice periods. A complete learning system!”

“I didn’t think virtual cello lessons could possibly be as effective as in-person lessons, but I called Olga anyway and set up an appointment. I have very limited time and didn’t want to lug my cello all over Paris. Three years later, I’m as impressed as ever. For better or worse, Olga doesn’t miss a thing! I only play for my enjoyment and never intend to play outside of my bedroom, but Olga holds me to the same standards that she demands from her professional cellists. Every time she gives me a new piece to work on, I think,”what’s wrong with Olga, does she really think I’m going to be able to play THIS!” Even with my limited hour of practice a day, I surprise myself and I learn them. I now actually enjoy hearing myself play — I haven’t checked with my neighbors, but I imagine if they could thank Olga, they would!”

“Fantastic Olga – now I understand the simple physical relations between shoulder, elbow and wrist movement – and how these impact on the correct 90o angle to each of the strings!

“Hi Olga, Thank you so much for your lesson. I wonder if you could help. I am finding it difficult to maintain the correct bow position when I am playing, I find I am gripping the bow between the thumb and index finger and not the thumb and the two middle fingers. I am concerned about progressing my learning until I have git basic technique right….. do you have any tips of how I could change this habit?

“I play cello and my brother plays violin and he wants to learn to play cello, so I’m showing him these videos to help him. Olga thanks for all you do.

“This was so helpful!! Thank you so much!!

“Olga, this is truly the the best description and demonstration of how to hold the cello. My granddaughter and I are learning the cello together. Our instructor was vague on this point. Thank you.

“I just fall in love with you right now. You have shown me that I have been holding my cello incorrectly since I started to have interest about it. I am middle aged, so my learning is very slow. Thank you for these tutorials.

“Thank you for this clear and simple explanation about holding the cello. Simple and sensible. What a relief.

“Olga, you are lovely. I really thank you for your tips, finally I have some idea how to handle my Cello (regarding how to sit and hold it).

“Thank you Olga your video is probably one of the best that explains things so clearly. Keep up the good work!

“Nice!…Thanks Olga, this helps a lot.

“Wow!! you are so good teacher!!!

“Thank you! That helped a lot

“Very clear and concise lesson. Thank you, as a private string and piano teacher, I just got my first cello student, but I’m a double bassist, and there are differences (I use a stool) in the exact means of holding, however I will experiment with some of the advise you gave for cello to my own double bass studies.

“This was very informative, thanks 🙂

“Thank you

“Please make more cello videos please?

“Finally someone shows up close exactly where the thumb goes. Thank you!

“Finally someone who can practically describe how to hold the bow. How I have looked for this! Thank you Olga!

“I’ve studied with Olga for years and I can honestly say she is the best teacher I’ve ever had. Even while studying with a different teacher in school, I would go to her for lessons and for recital preparation.

“Thank you so much. I am 58 years old and I taught myself keyboards, Guitar and drums. But when I tried my newly bought cello. I knew that I have to learn how to hold the bow !! I think (but sure I am ignorant in cello) that it is the most important thing before playing. I saw some you tube but I feel that your lesson is the best and as I say it seems to be the most important. Thank you so much for the gift you gave me (and I assume thousands of music lovers)

“I’m planning on purchasing a cello in the next few months, and I’m researching Youtube so I can be properly prepared when I begin practicing. And I found you’re instruction on proper bow grip and use to be very informative. Thank you for making and posting this video. 🙂

“Olga thank you!!! I have watched so many videos of bow hold and for some reason after watching YOUR video it all made sense and feels good while playing! Always had the bow sleeping out.. thank you for a great video. another YouTube musician 🙂

“Hello Olga. I’m 54 and just start playing hte cello. I have a book to teach myself, but the basics, as you show here, are not in that book. So I watched your first videos here and try to do right the way as you teach it. it really helps a lot and makes a good feeling for not doing to many things to bad. Thank you for your videos! Have a good time…

“Great video! Even though I’m the first in my orchestra class, my teacher really hates me for my bowhold. I’ve tried to figure it out for a while and just couldn’t understand until I stumbled across this. Thank you!

“Excellent lesson. I’m on week three of learning g the cello on my own. This video is one of the best for proper bow hold. Thank you.
